James A. (Jim) Sigler was born December 8, 1961 in Henderson, Kentucky.  He earned a B.A. from the University of Kentucky in 1984, and a J.D. from the University of Louisville School of Law in 1988.  He was commissioned an officer in the United States Navy Judge Advocate General's Corps in 1988.  He served on active duty from 1988 - 1991, handling over 200 special and general courts martial.  In December 1990, Sigler was deployed to Operation Desert Storm as Staff Judge Advocate for the Commanding Officer, ASU Bahrain until May 1991.

From 1991 to 1999, Mr. Sigler practiced law at a regional defense law firm with an emphasis in auto, premises, and product liability law. He joined Whitlow, Roberts, Houston & Straub, PLLC, as a partner in 1999. His practice is currently focused on the defense of complex civil litigation, including medical malpractice suits, manufacturing defect claims, fire losses, and toxic tort claims. He has served as lead counsel in more than 75 jury trials and serves as the Chair of the Firm's litigation section.

Mr. Sigler is approved counsel for The Medical Protective Company, American Physicians Assurance Corporation, St. Paul Travelers, AutoOwners, Ohio Casualty, Great West Casualty, Liberty Mutual and AIG, among others.

Mr. Sigler holds membership in the McCracken County Bar Association, Kentucky Bar Association, Kentucky Defense Counsel, and Defense Research Institute, Inc.

He formerly served on the Board of Directors of the Paducah Chamber of Commerce, Paducah/McCracken County Convention and Visitors Bureau, United Way of Paducah (Co-Campaign Chair 1999), and the Carson Four Rivers Center for the Performing Arts.  Mr. Sigler is President of the Paducah Rotary Club and Chairman of the Paducah/McCracken County Convention Center Corporation.

Mr. Sigler is admitted to practice in all courts of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
