J. Duncan Pitchford was born on February 10, 1975 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He graduated from Centre College (BA) in 1997 and from the Washington and Lee University School of Law (JD, magna cum laude) in 2000. While at Washington and Lee, he was elected to the Order of the Coif and to Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership fraternity founded at the University. He served on the Moot Court Board at W&L, and received several awards in various moot court competitions, including the Best Brief Award in the John W. Davis Moot Court Competition and was a member of Washington and Lee's winning team at the J. Braxton Craven Moot Court Competition held annually at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. After attending law school, Mr. Pitchford served two years as a law clerk to the Honorable Thomas B. Russell, United States District Court Judge for the Western District of Kentucky. Mr. Pitchford was admitted to the Kentucky Bar in 2000, and is also admitted to the bars of the Western and Eastern Districts of Kentucky, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He is a member of the McCracken, Louisville, Kentucky, Federal, and American Bar Associations. His practice is concentrated in the areas of litigation, health law, and commercial real estate transactions. Mr. Pitchford also serves as litigation counsel for several national title insurance carriers. Mr. Pitchford is actively involved in several community and professional organizations, having served on the Board of Directors for Paducah-McCracken County Habitat for Humanity since June, 2004. He was recently elected President of Kentucky CASA, Inc., which serves as the supervising board for all CASA programs in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and is on the Board of Directors for Kentucky Defense Counsel.
