R. Christion Hutson, born in Nashville, Tennessee on September 1, 1962, is a native of western Kentucky. Mr. Hutson joined Whitlow, Roberts, Houston & Straub as an associate in August 1987.  He has practiced as a member of the firm since January 1993.

Mr. Hutson was graduated magna cum laude from Murray State University in 1984 with a major in Political Science and a minor in Economics. While at Murray State, Hutson served as chairman of the Student Judicial Board, and was recognized as the Outstanding Political Science major and the Outstanding Pre-Law Student in 1984.

In May 1987, Mr. Hutson was graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Law.  He was an Associate Editor of the Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law in 1986-87.  Mr. Hutson's discussion of a case affecting the labor law remedies of undocumented aliens was published in the Journal of Transnational Law in January 1987.   Narrowly Interpreting Sure-Tan to Provide Traditional Labor Law Remedies to Undocumented Aliens Continually Present in the United States.  Bevles Company, Inc. v. Teamsters Local 986, 791 F. 2d 1391 (9th Cir. 1986).

Since becoming a partner of the firm in 1993, Mr. Hutson's practice has been concentrated in the areas of workers' compensation, general civil litigation and insurance defense.  Presently, Mr. Hutson represents some of the largest employers in the Purchase Area.   Additionally, Mr. Hutson represents the interests of employers insured by workers' compensation carriers.  Mr. Hutson litigates workers' compensation cases throughout Kentucky, predominantly in cases docketed at the hearing sites in Paducah, Madisonville, Owensboro, Bowling Green and Louisville. He has briefed numerous cases to the Workers' Compensation Board, Kentucky Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Kentucky.

Frequently, Mr. Hutson presents seminars on workers' compensation law.   He is a director for Comp Ed, Inc., a non-profit organization which serves to facilitate understanding of Kentucky workers' compensation law.  Mr. Hutson is also a member of Kentucky Defense Counsel.

Mr. Hutson is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and was admitted to practice in Kentucky in 1987. He is also admitted to the U.S. District Court, Western District of Kentucky.  Mr. Hutson is a member of the McCracken County Bar Association, served as Secretary-Treasurer in 1994-95 and will serve as President in 2007-2008.

Mr. Hutson has enjoyed active involvement in community affairs since returning to Paducah.  He has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the United Way of Paducah-McCracken County and served as co-chairman of the United Way Campaign in 1997. Also, Mr. Hutson served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the local chapter of the American Red Cross from 1993 through 1996.
